Looking for men and women to mentor children who attend Idyllwilde Elementary School in Sanford. There is a mandatory training on October 21, 2020 from 9:30 to 11:00. Once paired with a mentee, you will meet weekly work on self-esteem, address attendance, address grades and provide skills for the student's future goals. This will be virtual until at least the end of the year.
After enrollment in the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, this position will require an application through Seminole County Public Schools to sign up as a dividend (what SCPS calls volunteers) and background check that includes fingerprints, orientation for the school system and a special mentor training.

Previously known as Florida Senior Programs, VCI has been the sponsoring agency for the REtired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and Foster Grandparent Programs since 1977. Our 36 year presence has proven our aptitude for providing meaningful and impactful volunteer experiences.
VCI provides membership benefits and support to volunteers aged 55+, at no cost to the volunteers or their volunteer stations. Just a few of the benefits of membership include: Supplemental insurance while volunteering, a dedicated coordinator, and matching to find the perfect position to fit the interest of the volunteer.
