ORGANIZATION: DADS FOR A DAY, INC

Dad's For A Day is a group of Christian men willing to give their time to mentor a fatherless boy. The mentor is matched with one child between the age of 9 and 16. They are asked to spend at least two hours a week with the boy doing mutually agreed upon activities (fishing, movie, sports, dinner, etc.) and offer guidance in the essential attributes of life such as honesty, service, courage, forgiveness, etc.

Mentors must be a Christian man that has raised a family and has a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. All applicants will be required to pass a background check which will include being fingerprinted and will be required to provide two letters of recommendation.

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in a child's life. Our motto is: "It is far easier to build strong boys than to repair broken men"

Mission Statement

Dads For A Day is a faith-based volunteer nonprofit agency that provides positive male role models and mentoring programs for at-risk boys growing up in homes without dads.

Description

We teach our boys important virtues and life lessons to help them break the generational cycles of addiction, poverty, violence, suicide, and family abandonment. We give them character, we give them faith, we give them hope for the future. We also help our boys explore educational opportunities and career choices while learning the importance of solid work ethics.
We provide each fatherless boy with a Christian male role model who is fully trained, carefully matched, and has parenting experience raising a family of his own. Each of these mentors have also passed extensive background checks and personal interviews.
Mentors meet with their assigned boy at least once a week for a mutually enjoyable activity or group outing. A unique component of our program is that during these activities the volunteer mentor creates opportunities to share important virtues and life lessons. First year virtues lessons include such topics as faith, honesty, love, courage, respect, and character. Volunteers in our program must be ready to have fun, make a new friend, and change the life of a fatherless boy forever
