The Y After School Program offers high quality care to children in Roanoke City. We are operate in eight of Roanoke City Schools providing a meal, homework help and engaging enrichment activities. Volunteers are needed to help children during homework time as well as offering tutoring in reading and math to children in need of assistance. We also are looking for individuals who possess specific talents in the area of Creative Arts, Drama, Cooking, Sports, and Scientific fields for our enrichment focus.

The way a child spends time after school can make a big difference in their personal development and your family-life balance. The YMCA's After School program makes the most of children's after school time by offering enrichment learning opportunities designed to engage and expand young minds!

- Driver's License Needed
- Background Check
- Must be at least 16
- We request that a volunteer be able to commit at least 45 min. per visit to a location. between 1- 5 days per week depending on availability. Children enter the program at 2:20. Homework time is typically 3 PM and enrichment time is from 4-5 PM.
- A background check will be conducted at the expense of our organization to ensure the safety of our children and staff. Predictable schedules are requested as well as advanced notice of unavailability on a scheduled day.
