About Nest Foundation

Nest’s mission is to comprehensively advance the movement to end all forms of child sexual exploitation, including sex trafficking, starting in the United States. Using the documentary film, PLAYGROUND : The Child Sex Trade in America , Nest educates youth, engages communities and supports victims of exploitation and trafficking with emergency aid.

The organization was founded in 2004 by Libby Spears while she was directing PLAYGROUND, (produced by George Clooney, Steven Soderbergh and Abigail Disney), which investigates the underground epidemic of child sexual exploitation and trafficking in North America.

Nest’s primary efforts are currently focused on our youth education program . The program aims to impart prevention strategies and empower young people, teachers, parents, and communities to join the movement to end sexual violence against children.

About the Volunteer Opportunity

Over the fall, we will be conducting significant outreach to schools on our key states (OR, NY, TX, CA). This position will support research and outreach in these areas. The position will also include preparation for upcoming trainings.

We invite applicants to share long-term goals and interests as we always take these into account when providing assignments. Interns are a valuable part of our team.

Who We Need

We are seeking a volunteer who is reliable, communicative and able to take initiative. Since we are a small team based in Los Angeles, this opportunity is ideal for anyone who will be in the city over the summer or is comfortable working remotely, with regular check-ins via video conference. Attention to detail and proficiency in Google Docs and Excel are musts. Social Media experience preferred.

Time Commitment Required

We are seeking volunteers to work with us for at least 8 hours per week during the fall months. While we are flexible, we recognize that a successful internship experience includes clear communication about availability and check-ins. We are able and happy to build a schedule that will work for the volunteer.

Description

Nest was founded as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 2004 by Libby Spears while she was directing PLAYGROUND: The Child Sex Trade in America, a film produced by George Clooney, Grant Heslov, Abigail Disney, Lauren Embrey, Arden Wohl, and Tracy & Matt Smith, that investigates the roots and consequences of child sexual exploitation in our own backyard.
