A Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger program, in partnership with Meals On Wheels of Tampa and Daystar Life Center.
Meals On Wheels St. Petersburg serves seniors and 18+ homebound individuals (due to illness, injury or disability) with a hot meal delivered to their home, by a volunteer, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
MOWSP is an alternative option for: 1) people placed on a waiting list; or 2) people who do not qualify for other Meals on Wheels programs due to age.
MOWSP delivers to the following St. Petersburg zip codes: 33701, 33703, 33704, 33705, 33707, 33708, 33709, 33710, 33711, 33712, 33713, 33714.
Recipients must be home to receive their food every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10:00am-2:00pm. As of July 2020, our program delivers on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Meals are prepared and packaged by Meals On Wheels of Tampa’s (550 W. Hillsborough Ave.) professional kitchen staff on the morning of delivery. The meals are then safely transported to Daystar Life Center (1055 28th St S.) in St. Petersburg where Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger volunteers pick up the meals to then go out and deliver. Meals On Wheels St. Petersburg is a complementary, but separate, program to other meal delivery services in the area.
Help us changes lives, by delivering one meal at a time. Volunteers are essential in providing care and compassion to seniors and homebound in need of nutrition assistance. As a volunteer, you can: help seniors maintain an independent lifestyle, brighten the days of isolated and lonely seniors, develop friendships with seniors and other kindhearted volunteers, and work directly with your community by making a difference!
We rely on 20 volunteers each week to assist with delivering a hot, nutritious lunch to our homebound and senior neighbors. With the help of compassionate and dedicated volunteers, are able to serve many more seniors in need of meal assistance in St. Petersburg. Volunteer drivers are greatly needed to assist with delivering meals on Mondays and Wednesdays between 10am-2pm. A route takes about an hour to complete. All volunteers must have a valid drivers license and pass a background check.
