Purpose: A Fundraising Events Volunteer assists the American Red Cross development team with fundraising events and/or promotion of fundraising events at various locations to increase visibility and understanding of the American Red Cross and its fundraising events throughout the region.
Reports To: Development Specialist
Responsibilities:
- Attend local events and meetings as an American Red Cross representative.
- Help plan and run fundraising events such as the Red Cross Ball, Heroes Breakfast, and Ride for the Red
- Assists with and support fundraising events including but not limited to event venue arrangement, signage, table arrangements, displays, the registration process, printing, project preparation and day-of-event logistics.
- Maintain an open, friendly and helpful approach to event visitors
- Maintain an intentional, pro-active stance in greeting event visitors
- Respond to inquiries in an appropriate manner
- Record names of interested people and inform chapter/unit for follow up
- Transport and set up Red Cross materials at community and fundraising events and return display materials to chapter/unit
- Assist at regional and local fundraising events
- On-call to assist with disaster fundraising including, but not limited to third-party fundraisers
- Attend daytime committee meetings prior to fundraising events to help with planning and organization
Qualifications:
- Understanding of the American Red Cross and its mission.
- Enthusiastic about American Red Cross mission and programs.
- Direct experience (professional and/or volunteer) in providing special event support preferred.
- Good speaking and communication skills
- Comfortable interacting with the public
- Ability to function in a variety of capacities, e.g. consulting, collaborating
- Organizational skills
- Ability to sit or stand for 1-4 hours
- May involve being outdoors in varying weather elements
- Ability to represent the American Red Cross in a consistently positive and professional manner including being punctual and appropriately dressed
- Access to a car is a plus
- May need to lift/carry some event supplies up to 15 pounds.
Length of Appointment: 1 year, renewable
