Good Shepherd Hospice has acquired the Virtual Dementia Tour kit and will be facilitating this experience for members of the community.

The Virtual Dementia Tour gives participants a simulated experience of what it is like to navigate everyday tasks for a person with Alzheimer's or other dementia related disorders.

We are looking to build a team a volunteers to help us with this program. Training will be provided.

Description

Hospice care allows those no longer seeking curative treatment to die in comfort and peace, and in control of their surroundings, with supportive care extending to the entire family network. Good Shepherd Hospice provides care to almost half of all those who die in our communities, serving Polk, Highlands and Hardee counties. Care is based on medical need without regard to race, age, ability to pay, creed, gender, lifestyle, or illness. As a non-profit organization, we are able to provide charitable care through generous donations and the special care that our volunteers provide.

  • After initial training, it is expected that volunteers will provide assistance 1 or 2 times per month.
  • Good hearing and vision is helpful, some roles require persons to stand for 30 minutes or longer.
