Lantern Community Services is an organization that champions the independence and well-being of New Yorkers who are formerly homeless or have recently aged out of foster care through supportive housing. Our programs - which have proven results in health, employment, education and life skills - are delivered inside our residences and tailored to each person’s needs.
For our clients with young children, we are looking for tutors who can dedicate a hour or two to helping elementary and middle school students with their coursework. We hope the volunteer can help foster and inspire a positive attitude towards education, as well as assess the student's strengths and weaknesses. We could use help in all subject areas but writing and math are especially needed.
