The Spina Bifida Association of North Texas is actively recruiting persons interested in serving as board members. Our board is a working board. We are a small nonprofit with a part-time Executive Director who handles the day-to-day operations. Board members do not have to have a background in health or disabilities, just a passion to serve.
We are looking for motivated, caring folks who could add diversity (including cultural, racial and geographic diversity)and skills to our Board and reflect the population we serve.
Board Members need to:
- Intend to serve for 3 years, beginning January 1, 2021.
- Make a personally significant financial gift.
- Help with fundraisers, especially the Walk N Roll
- Be active and involved-participate! Be willing to serve on at least one committee. Meeting attendance (no more than 4 per year) is important.
- Be an ambassador to SBANT in the community
- Currently due to Covid, meetings and events are virtual. We are hoping to get back to in-person events in 2021.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Spina Bifida Association of North Texas (SBANT) is to promote the prevention of Spina Bifida and to enhance the lives of all affected. The vision of the Spina Bifida Association of North Texas (SBANT) is to make a difference in our community through family and individual services including camps, support programs, outreach programs and informational resources that work to raise awareness of Spina Bifida, while generating funds to change the future of those affected by the neural tube defect. The SBANT is dedicated to bringing the Spina Bifida community together to change the future for all affected.
Description
Established in 1973 and one of the founding chapters of SBA, SBANT has a long history of supporting our families and those living with Spina Bifida with support services and programs such as camps, scholarships, information and referral, education, advocacy, research and more. We have a very active and vibrant community that reaches beyond the North Texas area.
