Description: Join us for the City of Berkeley's annual Harvest Festival, a chance to celebrate the Fall season with live music, kids’ activities, gardening information, and homemade food contests. This free festival at Cedar Rose Park will celebrate foods grown, harvested, and prepared by members of the Berkeley community. To inspire more urban farming, more homemade food, and healthier eating, the Food and Garden Exhibitions will host a Crop Swap, Seed Swap, and Food Contests. There will also be guided tours of nearby community gardens, as well as workshops on topics such as pollinators, preparing your garden for the fall season, and backyard gardening techniques. Several local organizations participate, and there will be a Kids Zone, Junior Forester Challenge, Live Music, Food Trucks, and Bounce Houses. Description
Berkeley has welcomed individual and group volunteers for many years. Members of the community have dedicated hours of service to our city by volunteering at special events, parks and activities, which help promote a sense of community, by bringing people together to make this city a wonderful place to live, work, and play.
Volunteer projects vary throughout the year. There’s always a need for all types of skills and experience, so you don’t need to be an expert to apply. The program is flexible, matching available opportunities to your talent and availability. Whether you’re an individual interested in ongoing projects or a group wishing to participate in a particular event, you can help provide vital services and support to many departments within the Recreation Department.
