The day trip volunteer goes on outings ("day trips") with the Day Trip Coordinator, a bus driver, and 12 JADP program participants. Most or all of the program participants are elderly and have varying degrees of dementia. The day trip volunteer helps the Day Trip Coordinator supervise and assist the participants during the outing, which usually lasts from about 10:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The outing includes a restaurant lunch and a scenic drive around town. The volunteer’s lunch costs are paid for by the Johnson Adult Day Program.
