We are seeking volunteers to assist with data entry for our Western Snowy Plover Program. Snowy Plovers are a federally threatened bird species that has declined throughout their range due to loss of habitat. While most breed on coastal sandy beaches, many are also found in the South San Francisco Bay in former salt ponds. During the Snowy Plover breeding season, our biologists conduct a wide array of surveys, collecting data on breeding Snowy Plovers, potential predators, and breeding habitat availability. This information provides critical insight into the breeding success and overall health of the Bay Area Snowy Plover population, and allows SF Bay Bird Observatory to make management recommendations to federal and state agencies in support of Snowy Plover conservation.
