Emmaus Explorers Program is expanding! This fall, children living in the Emmaus Family Shelter will have the opportunity to improve their academic skills, receive one-on-one help with their schoolwork, participate in team building games, and more! Explorers will have 3 distinct program areas to reach more children and parents in the Emmaus Family shelter and its scattered sites. These programs are the Children’s Homework and Academic Mentoring Program, CHAMP, an after school academic assistance program, Enrichment Nights, and the new Early Explorers program. Emmaus is currently recruiting enthusiastic, qualified volunteers to assist in leading these programs. We will now offer Early Explorers at various times throughout the week while parents attend career services and workshops at the D’Youville Center. We will also meet three afternoons per week to help the children with homework and academic assistance and host enrichment nights every other week for the entire family to enjoy. There will be a few exciting family field trips throughout the fall as well. Every activity is designed to make learning interesting and fun for the children in Emmaus’ programs. Emmaus Explorers aims to increase self-esteem, enhance the sense of community at the Family Shelter, and instill within participants a love of learning. We need your help to make this a fall these children will never forget!
