Drug overdose deaths continue to increase in the United States. According to the Center for disease control and prevention, there are 192 drug overdose each day. Naloxone is a non-addictive, life-saving drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose when administered in time. Training on how to identify and respond to an overdose is available at Care For the Homeless.
We are looking for volunteers to help us create Narcan kits to distribute to patients, shelters and medical staff. Each Narcan kit will contain 2 doses of Naloxone, gloves, a certificate of completion card, information on how to administer Naloxone and forms to be completed. These kits will prepare patients and staff to better response to a drug overdose and save lives. If desired, volunteers can also be trained on how to identify and response to a drug overdose.

Mission Statement
Care For the Homeless fights homelessness by delivering high-quality and client-centered health care, human services and shelter to homeless individuals and families, and by advocating for policies to ameliorate, prevent and end homelessness.
Description
Care For the Homeless (CFH) serves 10,000 homeless men, women, and children annually and provides comprehensive health care at multiple sites co-located at soup kitchens, shelters, drop-in centers and street outreach programs in all 5 boroughs of NYC. Our service delivery model provides care where homeless individuals and families are receiving a variety of other services with the goal of reducing barriers to accessing high-quality health care. CFH also operates three transitional housing sites with on-site health care and is expanding shelter services in the future, ensuring a safe, supportive path to permanent housing.
In addition, CFH is committed to ending homelessness by conducting public education, research, and analysis of model programs and practices that create permanent housing opportunities, and by shaping policies to prevent future homelessness.
