The Grant Writer will be responsible for supporting the development goals by managing all grant-related efforts including identifying potential grant funders and oversight of all grant reporting. The Grant Writer will collaborate with the Program Director to develop grant budgets and evaluation metrics that will advance organizational goals, and assist with the development of sponsorship packages and donor case statements. An ideal candidate would be a highly organized strategic thinker, computer proficient with excellent writing skills, and great attention to detail.

Accountability and Responsibilities

  • Effectively and timely researches and identifies funding opportunities at local, state, and national levels through philanthropic, corporate, and public entities
  • Actively develops all elements of grant proposals, including proposal narratives, evaluation plan, budget, and supporting material to ultimately ensure timely grant submission
  • Provide updates on upcoming deadlines/responsibilities, new prospects and strategies, and progress towards goals and spending of funds
  • Collaborates with the Program Director to ensure all reports are submitted on time and are compliant
  • Maintains and supports the consistency of the agency's image and communications efforts by drafting funding award letters
  • Effectively develops and grows strong funder relationships that outlast staff transitions through good stewardship of funder requirements and impact reporting
  • Effectively and timely compiles and submits required reports in a timely manner to funders, ensuring compliance with funder reporting requirements
  • Grows professionally through various avenues, but not limited to: online courses, in-person classes, seminars, conferences, books, etc.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Demonstrates success in grant writing and grant management
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
  • Highly collaborative
  • Excellent writing skills

We provide transitional/supportive-permanent housing, on the job training warehousing skills, job placement, and in-house resources to support basic needs like: Financial Coaching, Life Skills Training and Workforce Development.

Our Non Profit Organization offers a wide variety of programs that are designed to deliver practical, relevant and impactful solutions to empower individuals and families with the education, Career/Job Readiness tools and resources needed to move up the economic ladder. Empowerment provides customized career readiness services including: job readiness assessments and workshops; resume development; on-line job search assistance; interview skills training; dressing for success workshops; free one-on-one business coaching; job referrals, job placement, food and clothing pantry.

Our mentors are dedicated to empowering young people to become successful and independent by establishing the strong foundations of physical and emotional health, positive social and family relationships, and education. Today’s troubled youth are challenged like never before. Some struggle with substance abuse, mental health or behavioral issues.
