Caseworker Volunteer

Caseworker volunteer is part of the Casework team and takes on refugee cases that require closer care and attention. The Volunteer will work with the team to provide ongoing health and medical assistance to refugee clients as part of holistic case management. The volunteer will assist in the coordinating of medical appointments for clients, as well as working to ensure that data entry regarding appointments is completed in a timely manner. Additionally, the volunteer will also research potential community resources and provide referrals to new and existing partners within the community. Finally, the volunteer will also be tasked with helping the CM caseworker enroll clients & track their progress.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Caseworker, the Volunteer will assist with the following:

  • Coordinate medical appointments for refugee clients, including health screenings, specialist appointments, and other medical follow up visits;
  • Coordinate all new Refugee arrival needs
  • Transport Clients
  • Apartment Set ups
  • Input health & medical data in a timely and accurate manner using IRC databases;
  • Enroll, track, & report on clients in Case Management program;
  • Research community resources & reach out to potential new service providers;
  • Maintain confidential health information & materials relevant to refugee populations with severe medical, mental, & social needs;
  • Other relevant program support duties, as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cultural competency & consideration
  • Excellent written & verbal skills
  • Proficient with Excel & other Microsoft Office applications
  • Self-starter, ability to complete projects with minimal supervision
  • Access to reliable, insured vehicle
  • Interest in social work, or international studies preferred, but not required
  • Computer literacy, data base experience preferred
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Empathy and open mindedness across-cultural environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be comfortable working with the LGBTQ and Asylum Seeker community

Note: 4 hours a week minimum for 3 months

Volunteer hours can only be completed between Mon- Friday between 9- 5 pm.
