Volunteer with the Cemetery Stewards as part of 2019 Make a Difference Day! Volunteers can help keep the cemeteries in top shape by trimming grass around head stones, pulling weeds, and helping with various tasks that keep the cemeteries looking their best.

Interested residents can come out on their own or with a group to volunteer at Old City Cemetery.

Old City Cemetery - Located at East Mill Plain and Grand Boulevard, the Old City Cemetery is surrounded by a tall iron and concrete fence. It is one of Vancouver's oldest established cemeteries.

Many of the early pioneers for Vancouver are buried at Old City Cemetery. This includes Esther Short, the Hidden family, and more!

The entrance can be found on E 13th Street at the northwest corner of the cemetery.

Mission Statement

Our Goal: An Active, Involved Community To realize the benefits of our unique and diverse community in the City of Vancouver, we must create ways to break down barriers and make government more accessible to everyone. The interaction of residents and government strengthens our community. We also believe government effectiveness increases when citizens are engaged and informed. We value volunteers and encourage involvement, whether it is within the neighborhood or within the larger community, because it promotes a healthy city.

Description

Make a Difference

When you volunteer you change your community for the better. Whether it’s picking up litter in a neighborhood park, serving on a board or commission, or anything in-between, volunteers are creating positive change throughout the City of Vancouver. We welcome volunteers for one-time events, as well as those who would like to donate their time on a regular basis. Whatever your interests are, we can help find a volunteer role for you!
