This is a 5K run that starts at the Amphitheater and goes through the Norton Commons community. All proceeds will help USA Cares assist military families in crisis. The race starts at 10:00 a.m. We need assistance setting up for the event and with registration, distribution of materials to participants and directing participants before, during and after the event. We will also need assistance with distribution of water and snacks to participants, as well as assistance with clean up after the event.

Mission Statement
USA Cares, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose mission is to provide post-9/11 military veterans, service members and their families with financial assistance and post-service skills training to create a foundation for long-term stability. Our services improve the quality of life for them and their families and reduce the potential risk factors that contribute to veteran suicide.
Description
Our services are provided virtually, through phone and internet. The financial assistance provided by USA Cares is given in the form of grants which service members and their families do not have to repay. Financial assistance isn’t given directly to service members or their families, but to mortgage lenders, utility companies, and other vendors. The objective is to reach families at the earliest stage of intervention to proactively prevent further financial distress. Our goals are to keep children fed, keep families together under one roof, and keep the lights on while the veteran/service member discovers a renewed sense of purpose and to assist with that discovery as they transition to civilian life. By removing barriers to financial stability and improving the quality of life for military families, our services reduce potential risk factors contributing to suicide and these veterans can move forward with a renewed sense of purpose on a path toward independence and self-sufficiency, rather than a path toward hopelessness and despair.
