MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
Walk dogs in the shelter that are waiting for homes. The majority of our dogs are large breeds. Volunteers should be physically active and have the ability to manage large, strong, and excitable dogs on leash.
Required to take and pass the hands-on training class provided by our behavior staff.

Mission Statement
Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control is comprised of a dedicated group of animal-loving staff and volunteers who aid in the adoption of homeless pets in Palm Beach County. We keep the community up to date on events, adoption promotions, and pets in need at our local county shelter. Please consider joining our team.
Description
Encourage pet owners to be responsible for pets in their care by providing educational programs on humane treatment, animal behavior training, and proper control.
Appropriately enforce county, state, and federal animal laws.
Provide safe shelter and veterinary care for lost, abandoned and unwanted animals.
Return to owners or adopt to new homes, as many impounded animals as possible.
Humanly euthanize injured, sick, and unwanted animals.
Encourage spay/neuter and provide reduced-cost surgery for Palm Beach County pet owners through our Spay Shuttle nonprofit program.
Conduct other effective programs, which protect the health, safety and welfare of animals and the residents of Palm Beach County.
Provide excellence in customer service.

- Schedule is very flexible, but we do ask that volunteers commit to a minimum one shift (1-3 hours) per week for a period of at least 4 months.
- Be able to handle large, strong, excitable dogs on leash. Follow all instructions by staff.
