One of the ways EFN fights hunger is through Mother Earth organic farm, which grows fresh fruits and vegetables for food pantries on its eight acres in Puyallup. Last year alone, the farm grew and distributed over 100,00 pounds of quality produce.

The work at EFN's Mother Earth Farm to produce fresh, organic fruits and vegetables for the community is year round! During winter months, we distribute more than 13,000 pounds of cool-weather produce such as leafy greens, Brussels sprouts, and tatsoi.

You will stay warm and dry while you lend a hand with crops grown in our industrial-sized high tunnels. It doesn't matter if you are an avid gardener or this is your first time working with plants. Our awesome staff will be on hand to with gloves, tools and everything you need to get started.

Registration is required. Due to safety reasons and limited capacity at the farm, we ask volunteers to not drop-in.

To register, please contact EFN’s Volunteer Coordinator at MadisonS@efoodnet.org or (253) 584-1040.

About Emergency Food Network

Location:

3318 92nd Street South, Lakewood, WA 98499, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Emergency Food Network is "to provide Pierce County with a consistent, diverse and nutritious food supply so that no person goes hungry."

Description

"Currently, 1 in 10 people in Pierce County face food insecurity, and this need is continuing to rise. Through our 75+ Partner Programs (food pantries, meal sites, and shelters) all over Pierce County, EFN distributed over 14 million pounds of food in 2023 to our neighbors in need, including fresh produce grown at EFN’s Mother Earth Farm. This work was made possible by our 2,000+ volunteers, who worked over 12,000 hours in 2023. Volunteer work is vital in helping EFN pursue our mission of ensuring no person goes hungry. Volunteer opportunities include the Repack Project, Home Delivery, EFN’s Mother Earth Farm, and special events throughout the year. We hope you will join us!"
