Saturday Food Pantry Lead Volunteer

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: South County Outreach

On the first Saturday of each month, South County Outreach has a team of volunteers come in to help clean our food pantry and stock the shelves.

We are currently seeking a lead volunteer who can come in for our monthly Saturday cleaning crew and supervise the volunteers. Duties include welcoming volunteers, instructing them on where and what needs to be cleaned, how to stock shelves, and overseeing other general tasks. The Volunteer Manager will be on site to assist.

We will train the Lead Volunteer on all Food Pantry cleaning procedures. We are seeking someone who is motivated, enthusiastic, loves working with people, and possesses strong leadership skills.

The Saturday Volunteer Days are from 9am - 12pm.

Mission Statement

South County Outreach is a nonprofit organization committed to preventing hunger and homelessness in Orange County by helping people in need help themselves.

Description

South County Outreach (SCO), founded in 1989, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing homeless prevention services to low-income individuals and families in crisis in South Orange County.

Through a variety of programs, South County Outreach gives families in need the help they need and the tools to become self-sufficient. Our Food Pantry distributes nearly one million pounds of emergency, non-perishable and fresh food to an average of 9,000 families annually. Our housing programs provide subsidized housing and professional case management services to local families who are homeless or on the verge of being homeless. Our Computer Learning Lab teaches more than 600 students annually who are unemployed and underemployed to improve their skills and increase job opportunities.

We are a volunteer-based organization with over 250 regularly scheduled volunteers and 1,500 occasional volunteers that help throughout the year.
