Choir Care Coordinator - Music Moves Hartford Street Choir

We are looking for someone to come and talk with our choir members about their extra-musical needs on a one-to-one basis. For example, we recently helped a few people fill out the appropriate paperwork to obtain free a free cell phone and wireless service. We would like someone who can start informal conversations so that we can start to meet their needs in small ways where it is possible. We want to strengthen the trust, friendship, and community in our group. Our primary staff is busy with the musical and administrative aspects, so we'd like someone who can focus just on their care. It would involve 3 hours per month with us (every other Wednesday from 10:45am to 12:15pm), and an estimated additional 2 hours per month researching and finding ways to meet needs. Needs might include: assistance filling out forms for shelter or other services; clothing; basic household needs; job recommendations (which can be provided by the choir's music director to long-term participants); help locating and applying for educational programs; etc. While we know we will not be able to meet every request, we would like to better get to know their needs and do what we can to provide or link them with a provider. Our group is very upbeat and fun- come be a part of our family!

This opportunity is great if you have volunteer or internship requirements in your pursuit of studying social work or psychology. However, any person with an open and compassionate heart can fill the role!
