Gandy Dancers were the crews that laid and maintained the tracks for the railroads before machines took over the process. At the Goleta Depot we still do it by hand. We are looking for a few committed volunteers to help us with the tracks for the miniature train at the South Coast Railroad Museum. Beyond the tracks the crew helps maintain the locomotive and cars.

Training from experienced persons will be provided for all tasks. Tools are provided. Scheduling for this volunteer opportunity is very flexible. The opportunity is ongoing. If you like working outdoors, please consider joining our team.
