On Saturday, Oct 12th step back in time at the Raleigh Roots History Festival. This inaugural festival is produced by the City of Raleigh’s Historic Resources and Museums program. It is a celebration of the rich history of the founding and creation of North Carolina’s Capital City. The event will feature living history that includes a loom, a blacksmith, cooking demonstrations, and a revolutionary war encampment. In addition, there will be a kid’s zone, old-fashioned games, free carriage rides, and vendors. Main stage performers will include the Tryon Palace Fife & Drum Corps, Sir Walter Raleigh, Jonkonnu dancers the musical stylings of Ken Bloom.

Volunteer Duties:
Volunteers will aid in the set up, running of, and break down of the Raleigh Roots History Festival. Duties may include manning the informational booth and running games and activities.

Volunteer Impact:
By helping with on of the first large events in the square, you are helping aid in the activation of a new and improved public space.

Work Environment:
It will be outdoor, loud and possibly crowded. This is a festival with amplified sound.

Volunteer Requirements:
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. All volunteers will need to sign a release form.

Special Instructions:
We will supply a staff badge and water. No special parking instructions.

Group Registration Information:
Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. A group leader must email rachel.vannoordt@raleighnc.gov to register. All groups will be required to provide a list of names and emails for their volunteers.

Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
