We are looking for caring and patient adult tutors for our AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) program. We are in need of volunteers to facilitate a small group of students during the school day once or twice a week. Training is provided. We ask volunteers if they could commit to at least one semester (1 st Semester: September 3rd-January 24 th, 2 nd Semester: January 27 th-June 17 th).

AVID is a structured college preparatory system that provides direct support for first-generation college students. AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

If you enjoy working with middle and high school students, are comfortable allowing students to work through problems with a little strategic guidance, and can help for at least one hour, once a week--we are looking for you! Note: You do NOT need to be especially proficient or knowledgeable in a school subject to apply! You will be taking more of a facilitator role to ensure that the students arrive at their answers individually with the guidance of their peers.
