Mission Statement
The International Tennis Hall of Fame is a non-profit institution dedicated to preserving the history of tennis, inspiring and encouraging junior tennis development, enshrining heros and heroines and providing a landmark for tennis enthusiasts worldwide.
The ITHF Museum is dedicated to fostering an appreciation of the historical development of tennis and its impact on our culture, as well as the history of the Newport Casino. The Museum accomplishes this by collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting its collections for a diverse audience. The Museum also celebrates those persons who have exceptional records or who have made outstanding contributions to the sport.
Description
The International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum is located in the historic Newport Casino on the lovely Bellevue Avenue in Newport, RI. Built in 1880 as the town's social club, the Casino has hosted tennis tournament play since 1881. On site we have 13 grass tennis courts, 3 indoor courts, 1 clay court and a court tennis facility, which is 1 of only 10 in the United States. The Museum celebrates tennis history from its origins through current day. Our Museum has something to offer everyone, from the person interested in history and architecture to the current tennis buff displaying memorabilia in both tradional and interactive displays.
