The Empowerment Factory (TEF) is a non-profit dedicated to giving youth the skills they need to lead happier, healthier, more empowered lives. We focus on three areas of development: creativity, self-esteem, and civic
pride. Our Creative Squad programs blend hands-on activities with social emotional learning (SEL) and environmental education. Our vision is for every child to develop the confidence and ability to express themselves and become successful in school and life. Every child should feel that they matter and can make a difference in the world around them.

Communications Volunteer Job Description

The Empowerment Factory (TEF) is a local non-profit looking for a passionate, creative and innovative volunteer to assist in communications relations. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge and gain experience. Be part of a team that is making a positive impact in our community.

● Collaborate with the general public, businesses and community-based organizations to raise
awareness of the activities and services The Empowerment Factory provides.
Location is easily accessible by public transportation, directly on bus route.


● Understanding of the basic principles of advertising, public relations and/or marketing.
● Ability to communicate in a professional manner with the press and community contacts.

Term: Summer, Fall, Spring, and Winter Session

Our project-based experiential learning approach focuses on three areas of development: creativity, self-esteem, and civic pride. At the heart of our work is the Creative Squad program, which encourages a balanced combination of individual thinking, peer interaction, and teamwork.

Since 2014 The Empowerment Factory’s blended learning model has positively impacted over 3700 urban youth with the creation of 34 after-school clubs and 13 summer programs.
