Providence Hospice Visitation volunteers provide comfort and companionship to terminally ill patients residing in nursing facilities or adult foster homes. In one-on-one time with a patient in their home setting, you might read a book aloud, reminisce about the past, do simple crafts, laugh and cry together, or simply sit quietly and provide supportive presence. Each patient is unique, each volunteer assignment is different; but every patient and every assignment will touch your heart and bring something special into your life.
Providence Hospice serves the Portland Metro area and we have volunteer opportunities in your area that can work around your schedule.

Mission Statement
Our Mission: As people of Providence we reveal God's love for all, especially the poor and vulnerable, through our compassionate service. Our Core Values: The Providence mission is carried out by employees, physicians, volunteers, and other care providers whose service reflects our core values: respect, compassion, justice, excellence, and stewardship.
Description
Hospice is expert, compassionate care provided to those with advanced illnesses where cure is no longer a realistic goal. The Providence Hospice team sees each person and family as unique and strives to provide quality end-of-life care as they face their journey with comfort and dignity. Hospice care is patient-directed and interdisciplinary, with physician, nurse, social worker, home health aide, and volunteer working collaboratively together to care for the patient. Hospice care is provided in a patient's home, whether that home is a private residence or a residential facility. Providence Hospice provides compassionate, thoughtful care to our patients and families with respect to their culture, religion, values, and beliefs.
