West Blvd Library holds celebration in honor of Hispanic Heritage month for kids ages 3-11 with their caregivers. It's on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 4:30-5:30. I'm planning for the kids to choose from several activities that teach them new things in a fun way. I think this would be a lot of fun for the right person -- or persons! Some volunteer tasks could include:
- showing kids how to use Google Earth to explore Central and South American landmarks
- help kids with a pinata
- playing a South American animal matching game with kids
- making and/or serving authentic Hispanic foods to kids
- playing an instrument/singing songs in Spanish
- help kids create their own Mexican wrestling masks
- help kids with building Mayan and Aztec pyramids with Legos and MagnaTiles.
- help kids with a monarch butterfly craft that shows their migration route to wintering grounds in Michoacan and Mexico states
