LA Walks

The Louisiana Walks for Parkinson's is a volunteer-organized event with a silent auction, family fun activities (puppy kisses, kids craft corner, TONS of local food vendors, live entertainment, and more!) that raises awareness and funds for the Davis Phinney Foundation whose mission is to help people with Parkinson's live well today. The Walk is Saturday, October 14, 2023. We'd love your help!

There are opportunities to volunteer all day, please contact us to let us know your availability and interest.

Volunteers will receive a t-shirt, food and beverages and the knowledge that you are making a huge difference in the lives of people with Parkinson's! Check out the walk event at parkinsonswalk.org.

Mission Statement

The Davis Phinney Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease today.

Description

The truth is, Parkinson’s can strip people of momentum and hope. At the Davis Phinney Foundation, we're committed to helping people with PD and their caregivers find new ways to improve their lives today. We constantly look for ways to motivate and inspire people with PD. And in the process, we are continually inspired ourselves. Every day we meet people exploring new ways to live better with the disease. We've met people who are climbing mountains, running marathons, and even riding their bikes across the country. And we've met people who find victory in walking around the block. Because, in the end, it's not the size of the victory, but the recognition of it that counts. The motivation behind it. The inspiration it can provide to others. In the end, it's about what we can do today to improve lives. And that is a victory in itself.

At the DPF we inspire and inform people living with Parkinson’s through:

  • Information on how to live well with PD
  • Investment in research that can improve quality of life
  • Impact on the lives of people with PD through funding of exercise and speech programs
  • Encouragement of those impacted by the disease to celebrate the daily victories in their lives
