Join us for Mordecai's 2019 Haunted Festival! This special event offers an afternoon of Halloween-themed fun including treats, games, & crafts on the lawn at Mordecai Historic Park! There will be costume contests for kids up to 16 years old & the local paranormal investigation group. The Ghost Guild will be on site to reveal their findings from their investigation in the Mordecai House, as well as answer questions on the ghostly activity at Mordecai Historic Park. This event is free & open to the public!
Volunteer Duties:
Volunteers will be working with the public doing carnival games, crafts, & pumpkin painting.
Volunteers will be working with the public at the pop-up dog park.
Volunteer Impact:
The Haunted Festival event is a free community program for all ages. Visitors get to celebrate the season together while getting to explore the historic park. Volunteers will help facilitate this.
Work Environment:
Volunteers will be working outside (weather permitting) on the two lawns at Mordecai. They are close to restrooms & there are indoor spaces if needed. In case of rain, activities will be moved indoors.
Volunteer Requirements:
The minimum volunteer age is 14. Those under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. All volunteers will need to sign a volunteer release form. Those under the age of 18 will need a parent/guardian signature.
Special Instructions:
Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and bring a water. We will have some snacks and water available for volunteers at the event. Parking can be found at the main lot on Mimosa St. or along Cedar St. and Mordecai Dr.
Group Registration Information:
Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. A group leader must email mary.owens@raleighnc.gov to register. All groups will be required to provide a list of names and emails for their volunteers.
Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
