United Way’s Raise Your Hand tutoring program is an education initiative that pairs volunteer tutors with first through eighth-grade grade students that need extra help with reading and math. Volunteers work in the classroom before or after-school to engage students and help teachers with lessons and learning games.
If you’d like to explore your passion for helping kids, please consider joining the Raise Your Hand tutoring team. The fall and spring semester tutoring sessions last for approximately 10 weeks each. No experience is necessary and training is provided.
Please contact Sonya Johnson (Education Initiatives Senior Manager) at sonya.johnson@unitedwaygn.org for details. You can also visit unitedwaygreaternashville.org/raise-your-hand to learn more about the tutoring program and/or submit a volunteer application.
Adults of all ages are welcome to apply. We also welcome high-school students that reside in the covered counties.
Note: The Raise Your Hand tutoring program is currently active in Williamson, Robertson and Wilson counties as well as Cheatham, Dickson and Hickman counties.
