The YWCA Monterey County Resource Center supplies free clothing, toiletries, home goods, shoes, and other items to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking that are currently receiving our services. The Resource Center Specialist assists clients with finding and selecting the items they need. In addition, the Specialist helps with the intake, organization and display of donations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and interact with clients who come to the Resource Center
- Make sure that the client is able to locate all the resources that they need
- Work with the client to complete required paperwork
- Help us sort through, label, and display our latest batch of Resource Center donations
- so we can continue to have a well-stocked inventory for the clients we serve
- Track inventory and work with Resource Center Manager to determine high-need
- items
- Receive new in-kind donations and work with donor to complete required paperwork
Qualifications
- Ability to lift 15+ lbs
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Proficiency in basic conversational Spanish desired (higher proficiency a plus)
- Ability to pass a background check/Live Scan
- Completion of YWCAMC New Volunteer Orientation
- Completion of Domestic Violence Training (through YWCAMC or other agency)
Position-Specific Training
In addition to the New Volunteer Orientation, the Resource Center Specialist will be guided on all
required processes and paperwork by the Resource Center Manager. Additional training and
support will be made available as needed.
Time Commitment & Location
We are looking for someone who can help for at least one two-hour shift per week. Shifts are
available Monday-Friday at the following times: 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm. Ongoing
commitment required. This position is located out of the Resource Center, located in our Salinas
office.
