Repack Project volunteers transform bulk food shipments into family-sized portions that are ready to help feed the community! Working in our Lakewood Distribution Center, you and your fellow volunteers might find yourselves bagging up oats or sorting cucumbers that didn't make it to grocery store shelves to save them from the landfill. Come help us relieve Pierce County hunger and have fun with old and new friends in the process. No experience necessary; anyone can contribute!

What you need to know:
Volunteers need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds either individually or with a partner (or bring a friend who can lift for you!).
*When repacking produce, volunteers will need to be able to bend down to grab the produce out of bins that are floor-level.
*The minimum age to volunteer at the Repack is 16 (youth ages 12-15 can volunteer with a parent or guardian).
*Registration is required as space is limited.

To register, please contact MadisonS@efoodnet.org or (253) 584-1040.

Are you with a group of 8 or more? Groups between 8 to 15 in size can reserve their own Repack Project! Repacks provide a great team-building experience while giving back to the community. Group Repacks can be scheduled Wednesday through Saturday with morning and afternoon sessions available. Give us a call at (253) 584-1040 to learn more.

About Emergency Food Network

Location:

3318 92nd Street South, Lakewood, WA 98499, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Emergency Food Network is "to provide Pierce County with a consistent, diverse and nutritious food supply so that no person goes hungry."

Description

"Currently, 1 in 10 people in Pierce County face food insecurity, and this need is continuing to rise. Through our 75+ Partner Programs (food pantries, meal sites, and shelters) all over Pierce County, EFN distributed over 14 million pounds of food in 2023 to our neighbors in need, including fresh produce grown at EFN’s Mother Earth Farm. This work was made possible by our 2,000+ volunteers, who worked over 12,000 hours in 2023. Volunteer work is vital in helping EFN pursue our mission of ensuring no person goes hungry. Volunteer opportunities include the Repack Project, Home Delivery, EFN’s Mother Earth Farm, and special events throughout the year. We hope you will join us!"
