During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of both COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Silverado Hospice is looking for volunteers to join our team. Our patient's are terminally ill and in their final stages of life. As a Hospice Volunteer you will be visiting Alzheimer's patients in our Silverado facility. We need volunteers who are willing to read the paper or a book to the patient, share hobbies, play & listen to soothing music, talk and share stories or just listen to their life stories, bring flowers from a garden, share photos, or just sit quietly and be the gift of presence for them. If you are interested please reply to this opportunity.
Visiting Alzheimer’s patients requires a very patient volunteer. These patients are limited in their ability to verbally and coherently communicate. They require volunteers with patience and the ability to connect through presence, not a typical conversation. Your visits become more about the activities you do together rather than the conversation. (I.e. playing music, holding their hand, taking them outside, and sitting quietly with them).
Training is provided.

It is our mission to affirm the cycle of life by enhancing the quality of living for those at the end of life. The Silverado standard is to care compassionately for patients and families and to empower those we serve to have quality of life options that afford them comfort and dignity.
Silverado Hospice honors the value of each life by empowering the patient and family to make supported choices in end-of-life care, enhancing comfort, relieving suffering and supporting effective grieving. We believe that Hospice patients have the right to continue life to the fullest extent possible according to their circumstances, and in fostering opportunities for growth and fulfillment. We further recognize patients and families decision-making rights in relation to continuing medical treatments and their right to withdraw treatment whose benefits are outweighed by their burdens. Silverado believes in equal opportunity and non-discrimination for our clients, our associates, and our community.
We'll work with your schedule.
