Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Companions Journeying Together, Inc

  • 33 people are interested

The Aunt Mary's Storybook project brings into several Chicagoland county jails and state prisons a selection of brand new books, along with audio recorders. We assist participating parents and grandparents in choosing an age-appropriate books for each one of their children. Each of the participants are then given an opportunity to record him or herself reading the books for their children, along with a personal message they can record for their children. On behalf of the parent, we then send the books and recording to the child.

We are looking for someone located in or near the Chicagoland area to help match the recordings with the selected books, as well as prepare the packages for mailing. We will provide you with training and supplies; however, you will need to have a computer, high speed internet, and a printer.

This volunteer position is done from home, although we will need to meet occasionally to provide you with the necessary supplies.

Please contact us if you are interested. We will then direct you to fill out our volunteer application located at https://cjtinc.org/volunteer
