Yellow Text

Help an old guy out! Opera NOVA's roots go back to 1962 giving us a wealth of experience. We want, however, to be as high tech as everyone else. Opera NOVA hopes for a volunteer who shares our passion to expand the civic impact that an opera company brings. The volunteer will manage platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. In addition he/she will research any new social media platforms that become available and widely used. Duties will include working with our publicist to post notices of events coming up for the company. These platforms all have accounts for Opera NOVA and hold posts for our events as well as those cross-posted from other companies and individuals. A commitment of at least 2 hours per week is requested. For more information, please call the Opera NOVA offices at (703) 536-7557 or mcdm1@verizon.net.

About Opera NOVA

Mission Statement

Opera NOVA works to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.

Description

Opera NOVA was founded in 1992 as a volunteer-based, non-profit charitable organization to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.

The Guild is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has been recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) entity.

Over the years, Opera NOVA has offered major financial support for an annual family opera that is attended by school children during week day performances and by children with their families and community-based organizations on weekends. Because of our efforts, 50,000 school-aged children, many of whom would not have the opportunity otherwise, have attended an opera. The performances not only offer children a unique opportunity to hear an opera sung in English, but they also learn about various opera and theatre techniques, from special effects to the intricacies of set and lighting design.
