Attend an hour long information session at Passaic County CASA and take the first step to helping an abused or neglected child in foster care. Court Appointed Special Advocates look out for the best interests of the children in Passaic County who are in the child welfare system. CASAs are a voice for these children in family court. They make informed recommendations for their future based on conversing with the child’s family, doctors, teachers, caseworkers, and caretakers.

Anyone can be a CASA. No special background or education requirements are needed and it only takes 7-15 hours a month. All training and resources are provided by Passaic County CASA. Without becoming a foster parent, you can become one of the only consistent people in the life of a child in foster care. Join us on November 19 th to find out more information!

Mission Statement

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Passaic and Union Counties is an independent, non-profit organization that champions the best interests of children involved in the child welfare system. CASA volunteers serve as a child's advocate in court and are committed to ensuring that needed services and assistance are made available to children in need.

Description

Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes.

That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child has an individual advocate to speak for them in court.

It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
