By dedicating just 7-15 hours a month, you can make all the difference in the life of an abused or neglected child in foster care. Passaic County CASA for children trains volunteers to advocate for children in the Passaic County foster care system. These Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are a child’s voice in family court. They make informed recommendations about what is best for the child’s future by gathering information from family, doctors, teachers, caseworkers, and caretakers.
There are no special background or education requirements to become a CASA and all training and resources are provided. Unfortunately, CASAs are usually the only consistent person in a child’s life while they are in the child welfare system. Without becoming a foster parent you can still help these children in need. Join us on November 7 th at our information session to find out more about how you can help!

Mission Statement
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Passaic and Union Counties is an independent, non-profit organization that champions the best interests of children involved in the child welfare system. CASA volunteers serve as a child's advocate in court and are committed to ensuring that needed services and assistance are made available to children in need.
Description
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes.
That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child has an individual advocate to speak for them in court.
It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
