Get involved in volunteering with abused or neglected children in foster care. Passaic County Court Appointed Special advocates (CASAs) are trained volunteers who gather information from family, doctors, teachers, caseworkers, and caretakers to make informed recommendations about what is best for their child’s future. While the lives of children in foster care are filled with constant change, CASA’s provide not only a voice for them in family court, but consistency as well.

Take the first step in becoming a volunteer and join us on October 23 rd to find out more information. No specific background or education is required; all training and resources are provided. Make a difference in a child’s life for only 7-15 hours a month!

About CASA of Passaic and Union Counties

Mission Statement

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Passaic and Union Counties is an independent, non-profit organization that champions the best interests of children involved in the child welfare system. CASA volunteers serve as a child's advocate in court and are committed to ensuring that needed services and assistance are made available to children in need.

Description

Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes.

That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child has an individual advocate to speak for them in court.

It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
