Volunteer Position: Program Volunteer Location: Various Project Access Family and Senior Resource Centers Hours/schedule: Dependent on site Reports to: The onsite Service Coordinator Age Requirement: 14 years+
Project Access’s Mission and Vision: To be the leading provider of vital on-site health, education and employment services to low-income families, children and seniors. Our goal is to help keep family members employed, children in school, and seniors active.
Position Summary: Volunteers play a fundamental role in providing relevant and quality programs to the communities we serve. Volunteers assist the Service Coordinator with the daily operations and direct programming of the Family and Senior Resource Centers which benefit the residents of affordable housing. Volunteers will have the opportunity to define their role and respective responsibilities based on their particular skill set, site needs and learning objectives.
Responsibilities can include but are not limited to the following: · Assist with the planning and implementation of programs, including After-School, teen, senior, adult, and health programs, etc. · Build trust and relationships with the residents in order to help meet their needs. · Research available resources available in the community in order to provide relevant information and referral services. · Assist the Service Coordinator in the creation, planning and execution of community-building events. · Assist with the instruction of onsite classes, programs, and other services. · Assist with the creation of flyers, newsletters and marketing materials to promote onsite services. · Conduct community outreach to connect residents with local resources, activities and programs onsite. · Assist the staff with retrieving and maintaining resident data. · Maintain attendance records for programs, services, and events · Attend and participate in team meetings. · Serve as a role model to adults and youth of the community. · Provide administrative support (filing, faxing, copying, data entry, etc.) to the Service Coordinator Skills and Qualifications Sought: · Exhibits energy and enthusiasm and an interest in volunteering in the nonprofit sector · Adapts to changing circumstances and demonstrates flexibility · Excellent communication and organization skills · Bilingual in English and the prevailing non-English language of the housing development’s community is highly desirable · Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Email, and Internet · The physical activity of this position may include minimal lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, reaching, and step climbing Dress Code: Business Casual
