caring hands

No matter if you are a college student or not, parent or not, between jobs or retired from your professional career, you can deepen or learn new interpersonal skills through your simple compassionate presence with our patients!

The greatest gifts you can give are your time, caring nature, willingness to listen, and collaboration with our care giving team! Volunteering can be as simple as sitting by the bedside, reading a book or running a quick errand for our patients and their family members, proving respite care, emotional and spiritual support as needed and capable.

We will provide you with our informative training and ongoing support. We also welcome certified professionals who wish to provide massage/art/music therapy per patient request.

Our volunteers are required to receive or show verification of an annual Flu shot and Tuberculin skin test or blood test, provide immunization records or titers showing immunity to MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and Varicella, show proof of TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and COVID-19 vaccinations, complete a drug screen and a health screening, consent to a criminal background check, and submit a copy of current driver’s license and auto insurance. Sutter will provide health screening and any necessary tests or vaccinations.

Call 707-535-5790 for more information.

Thank you.

Mission Statement

Sutter Care at Home enhances the health and well being of the people in the communities we serve through a not-for-profit commitment to compassion and excellence in home-based services and products.

Description

To become a hospice volunteer at Sutter Care at Home the greatest gift you can offer is your time, your caring nature, and your willingness to listen. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills and enhance existing ones. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.

Volunteers may stay with the patient to give the caregiver some time away or time to rest and they can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families. While volunteers cannot provide clinical or personal care, they may be able to assist with routine tasks and errands.

Requirements: Volunteers receive 24 hours of training, health clearance and a background check, and attend monthly educational meetings. They must work closely with Volunteer Program Coordinator as members of the hospice team.
