MUSICIANS NEEDED TO VOLUNTEER TO VISIT PATIENTS WHO ARE SENT HOME ON HOSPICE!
"Music therapy in hospice is unique in that it can draw from the patient’s culture, religious beliefs, and cherished memories to create a healing experience that is deeply personal and meaningful. In this, music therapy promotes an environment of healing and emotional restoration that are precisely in tune with a patient’s specific needs. While all hospice music therapy programs will have some degree of variance between them, most music therapy sessions in the end-of-life setting incorporate many of the same therapeutic exercises and techniques. Physical Benefits of Hospice Music Therapy: While music can be an impactful tool in emotional, spiritual, and social healing, music therapy also provides numerous physical benefits. For hospice patients dealing with physical pain, music therapy provides:
Improved relaxation Music therapy is a powerful tool in aiding relaxation. Music, when paired with relaxation exercises, is shown to promote a deeper level of restorative relaxation than the exercises alone. Skilled music therapists, over time, can hone in on the types of music that the patient best responds to and can create the best environment for maximum relaxation" (Music Therapy in Hospice, Crossroads Hospice).
Requirements:
* Able to commit to a minimum of 50 hours of service
* Complete volunteer application
* Complete health screening and 2-step PPD test
* Complete new volunteer orientation

Description
The Holy Redeemer Hospice Volunteer Program exists to support and expand the services provided to Holy Redeemer Hospice patients and their caregivers by the professional staff. Patient volunteers provide a social component which can normalize the experience and bolster the emotional support of both family and patient at this vulnerable time when illness can be an isolating factor. Office volunteers provide much needed assistance with mailings, records and other clerical responsibilities, freeing up additional time for staff to provide direct patient care.
