As a leader in the field of healthcare, TWCCH believes in providing individuals and communities with equitable opportunities to receive preventative/primary care. VISTAs will contribute to several projects that will connect economically disadvantaged individuals in Lackawanna and Luzerne County to integrated health care. VISTAs will possess a strong work ethic and be able to develop ideas in a collaborative setting. Most importantly, VISTAs should be empathetic towards the people being served. Major functions will include outreach and improving access to integrated healthcare services; cultivating a network of volunteers; and expanding the service line offered to members of our. All VISTAs will be given an opportunity to work in our Center of Excellence (COE) for Opioid Use Disorder where we serve people with opioid-related substance use disorders. We have included a geriatric service line to serve the changing health care needs throughout lifespan development. Recent graduates with an interest in creating opportunities for change and growth in healthcare, society, and politics will develop programs; create a registry of providers who are committed to improving coordination of care for patients, and perform data analysis on outcome measures. Access to health care impacts: overall physical, social, and mental health status; prevention of disease & disability; detection and treatment of health conditions; quality of life; preventable death; and life expectancy. Benefits & Conditions of Service: VISTAs commit to one year of service with TWC and will receive a living allowance of $12,456.08/year plus an additional $300/month toward housing and mileage reimbursement provided by TWC. Additional benefits include training, leave time, healthcare allowance, childcare benefits and relocation assistance for eligible volunteers, end of service benefits, and an opportunity to put your ideas into action!
