In partnership with the Microbusiness Connection Center, Women's Business Center of Utah, Salt Lake County, and Utah State University, the International Rescue Committee is hosting the New American Dream Lab, a business pitch event for New American entrepreneurs in Salt Lake City.

The goal of the event is to empower New American entrepreneurs and introduce the Salt Lake City business and the broader community to diverse small business owners who help to create a dynamic business landscape in Utah.

Three finalists will be pitching their new or existing small business idea before an audience of New American business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs, and Salt Lake City's broader business community. Small bites will be provided by Spice Kitchen Incubator.

We need volunteers to assist with the logistics of vendor load in/out, replenishing water/beverages, facilitating the voting process, manning the welcome/sign in and IRC tables, and helping attendees navigate the venue, among various other things that will arise throughout the evening. About International Rescue Committee

Location:

221 South 400 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84101, US

Mission Statement

The International Rescue Committee serves refugees and communities victimized by oppression or violent conflict worldwide. Founded in 1933, the IRC is committed to freedom, human dignity, and self-reliance. This commitment is expressed in emergency relief, protection of human rights, post-conflict development, resettlement assistance, and advocacy.

Description

Each year, thousands of refugees are invited by the U.S. government to seek safety and freedom. Forced to flee conflict or persecution, many refugees have survived against incredible odds. Refugees step off the plane with next to nothing but their dignity, hope, and determination. In Salt Lake City, the IRC helps approximately 500 refugees each year to rebuild their lives.
