Okay, this may not the most glamorous of volunteer tasks, but it is one of the most vital and the most often needed at The Kearney Center. Seven days a week, two DAYTIME SHIFTS shifts are available: 10am to 1pm;
1to 5pm; and an EVENING SHIFT on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesdays only from 5 to 9pm. Daytime duties will consist mainly of folding sheets, blankets, and towels and delivering them to the men’s and women’s dorms. On weekends, the linens normally sent out for laundering are washed and dried on-site, then folded. Evening duties will include laundering the personal clothing of up to 15 men and 15 women residents.
While individuals are being sought, volunteer groups too are encouraged to participate. From one day, multiple days, or even adopting a day of the week as your own. Working alongside friends, groups can speed through the stack of linens in no time at all.

Description
The Kearney Center provides 24-hour comprehensive emergency services to individuals experiencing or on-the-verge of experiencing homelessness within the 8-county Big Bend region. We provide temporary emergency shelter and housing-based services. As a result, this facility serves as a point of entry into assistance by coordinating services and responding to the immediate needs of individuals and families until appropriate permanent housing can be arranged.
