ORGANIZATION: Northwest Harvest

Northwest Harvest is a food justice organization and a hunger response network. We're in need of volunteers to help us repack food for distribution to food banks, high need schools and feeding programs across the state. Small groups and individuals are welcome!

Please note that this is a warehouse environment. Volunteer shifts involve standing and some light lifting.

*While we have ongoing volunteer opportunities, we have a particular need for help on this date/shift.

Northwest Harvest is Washington's own statewide hunger relief agency. The mission of Northwest Harvest is leading the fight for hungry people statewide to have access to nutritious food while respecting their dignity and promoting good health. Our vision is ending hunger in Washington.

Description

Northwest Harvest collects and distributes food to more than 375 independent food banks, hot meal programs, and high need schools across Washington State without proof of need. We provide over 2 million meals every month to individuals and families in need. We also run one food bank of our own, the Cherry Street Food Bank in Seattle.

Northwest Harvest is unable to provide court-related community service.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 9
  • This is a two hour shift.
  • Our minimum age for volunteering is 9 years. Youth between 9-15 years must have a parent/guardian volunteer alongside them. Youth between 16-17 may volunteer on their own with a signed permission form.
