Atheists and Humanists - and our allies of faith - are working together in Central Florida to save lives through blood donation and spread the message that the human potential for kindness and compassion transcends faith or non-faith perspectives.
BEFORE THE DRIVE:
Work with the blood drive director and OneBlood officials to plan the dates, strategies, and details; coordinate with multiple participating organizations and blood drive locations, Use social media and event posting platforms to get the word out, and identify & contact groups and businesses that might help promote this blood drive.
ON THE DAY OF THE DRIVE:
- Visit any of the branch locations listed on our website ( https://justgottabe.org/blood-drives/)
- talk to the branch medical staff, introduce yourself, take photos of those donating for our group (with permission & a photo release)
- If you donate blood, sign-in on the Atheist & Humanist Sign-in Sheet
HELP AT OUR FESTIVAL BLOOD DRIVES
We host the blood drives at two Orlando festivals each year and could use assistance with on-site recruitment. These happen in the spring (April) & fall (October).

Mission Statement
BE. brings compassionate atheists, humanists, freethinkers, and other non-religious identities, as well as allies of faith, together to make a difference in the community and overcome stereotypes about non-religious people through service, advocacy, and education.
Description
Because of the faith bias at many non-profits, non-religious people often hesitate to volunteer, donate, pursue social service careers, or even seek needed services. Serving together builds bridges across our differences. Since 2011 we have engaged the secular community in volunteerism in Central Florida. We serve openly as a non-faith organization; our service makes a difference while helping to overcome biases against the rapidly increasing secular demographic. We are a chapter of the American Humanist Association and a gold level service team with the national Foundation Beyond Belief. Programs include volunteer activities for groups and individuals, speaking to local organizations about inclusion and religious diversity, consulting with non-profits about Humanism, a Humanist Chaplain, and other resources, advocacy, and initiatives to support our mission.
