Mission Statement

BE. brings compassionate atheists, humanists, freethinkers, and other non-religious identities, as well as allies of faith, together to make a difference in the community and overcome stereotypes about non-religious people through service and education.

Because of the faith bias at many non-profits, non-religious people often hesitate to volunteer, donate, pursue social service careers, or even seek needed services. Serving together builds bridges across our differences. Since 2011 we have engaged the secular community in volunteerism in Central Florida. We serve openly as a non-faith organization; our service makes a difference while helping to overcome biases against the rapidly increasing secular demographic. We are a chapter of the American Humanist Association and a gold level service team with the national Foundation Beyond Belief. Programs include volunteer activities for groups and individuals, speaking to local organizations about inclusion and religious diversity, consulting with non-profits about Humanism, a Humanist Chaplain, and other resources, advocacy, and initiatives to support our mission.
