Hospice Community Care, Glen Allen, Virginia caring for terminally ill patients and those who love them since 2004, is looking for Friendly Visitor volunteers to befriend our patients in Western Henrico, Glen Allen and Hanover.
You do not need to have hospice volunteering experience because we will train you and assign a patient to you. You will visit your patient in whatever setting your patient considers to be home (a house or apartment, a nursing home or assisted living facility) When you visit with your patient, you can play board games like Sorry! or checkers, watch classic movies on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) or weather permitting, you can take your patient outside for fresh air. There are times when all your patient may need you to do is hold their hand to provide supportive presence and touch. You can visit with your patient as many times a month as your patient would like and you are able to visit.
To become a Hospice Community Care Friendly Visitor volunteer, please complete this information from Volunteer Match. You must be at least 18 years of age and be a licensed driver with current auto insurance. Unfortunately, if you have a DUI on your driving record at anytime, you will be unable to volunteer. You will need to have a TB (which Hospice Community Care pays for) and a background check (which is also paid for by Hospice Community Care). This volunteer opportunity will allow you to make a great difference in the life of a terminally ill patient.
Your training will take place in Glen Allen but you will be assigned to a patient in Western Henrico, Glen Allen or Hanover.
