Practice sports with the kids of our Soccer School. This project serves as a safe place to play and practice sports for children in the age of 5-18. Everyone is welcome. This applies not only to the children, but also to the volunteers; you don't necessarily have to have a soccer background.
The Soccer School serves as a safe shelter for children of La Arcadia, a disadvantaged neighborhood in the south of Quito. All children from the age group of 5-18 are welcome, no matter their gender, social background or economic situation. Although the name Soccer School (in Spanish: Escuela de Fútbol) suggests that the school is only meant for playing soccer, we also introduce other sports like handball, athletics and frisbee to the children.
Through physical exercise, having fun and learning how to play in a team we try to prevent children and teenagers to resort to alcohol, drugs and crime, which unfortunately are structural problems in the predominantly poor neighborhoods in the south of Quito.
Create an inspiring and safe learning environment in which Ecuadorian children and adolescents and international volunteers and interns can discover, develop, share and connect their talents and dreams with each other. We respond to the needs of both worlds and connect different cultures and people.
Local Dreamers offers meaningful volunteer programs, internships and Spanish courses in Ecuador, South America. We are a small, accessible and dynamic organization with passionate people and a personal approach.
We founded Local Dreamers because we are motivated to contribute knowledge and skills in order to give local talent the tools to discover and develop all these talents they have.
Our goal is to assist disadvantaged communities in achieving their objectives. An organization born out of pure passion of a couple of young idealists for Ecuador, a fascinating country in South America.
